About Me

I have lived in New Jersey for all of my life and have spent many years exploring the natural wonders throughout the state. Consequently, the majority of the pictures in this on-line gallery were taken in New Jersey. There really is so much more to the State of New Jersey than the Turnpike, concrete, and asphalt, as the photos on this site will attest! My previous work experiences have taken me to literally every corner of the state; from the Highlands of New Jersey/New York border to the Cape May Migratory Bird Refuge at Cape May Point. Through both specialized education and field experiences, I have gained a broad familiarity of the flora, fauna and ecosystems of the mid-Atlantic region of the Eastern United States.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management from Rutgers University, and am certified in the field of GIS (Geographic Information Systems). I am currently a full-time GIS Specialist for Burlington County's Resource Conservation Department, but I spend my free time taking part in my new-found passion, digital nature photography.

Photography goes hand in hand with my interests in ecology and natural resources. So many of us are too busy and distracted by our everyday lives to take the time to notice the wonders of nature all around us. Pictures allow me to illustrate the diversity of life and scenic beauty we take for granted, while educating people about the importance of conservation. I have been fortunate enough to display my work in public places throughout New Jersey, and participate in photography fundraisers for local non-profit environmental organizations.

Currently, I am working on compiling a photographic field guide to Southern New Jersey flora. The guide will be suitable for all levels of botanical knowledge and will include approximately 1,000 species of flowering plants.

Camera Info: The digital Canon EOS 400D (Rebel XTi) is considered by many to be one of the finest digital SLR cameras on the market today. The camera boasts outstanding image quality, over 10 Megapixels and allows for attachment of Canon's wide array of lenses and filters. I use a 17-85mm wide angle lens and 70-300mm telephoto lens, and polarizing filter. I use the Canon Speedlite 420EX external flash.
